The Best Hot Chocolate You’ll Ever Make

The idea of a perfect homemade hot chocolate is incredible. A mug, full of rich, creamy, and thick chocolate paradise is better than a ready-made chocolate mix powder.

It is a simple and easy recipe to make on chilly winter nights to keep yourself warm and cozy. A blend of cocoa powder and chocolate makes this hot chocolate delightful and saporous.

Just a handful of ingredients in a saucepan and your delicious hot chocolate is ready in minutes. Give it an extra spin by topping it up with marshmallows, sprinkling chopped dark chocolate or fresh whipped cream.

Instructions

Method to make thick hot chocolate:

  • Take a saucepan. Add 1 cup full-fat milk, over medium flame heat, and bring the milk to simmer. In a bowl, take 1 tbsp of cornstarch, 2 tbsp of cocoa powder, and ½ cup of milk to make a thick paste.
  • Add the thick paste in the milk and 4 tbsp sugar. Stir until no lumps remain.
  • The mixture will eventually start getting thicker. Once it gets a little thicker then add ¼ cup of dark chocolate and turn off the flame. Whisk until the chocolate melts.

Notes

  • Here, I am using 99% cocoa dark chocolate. You can use any dark chocolate.
  • If you are using semi-dark chocolate use less sugar because semi-dark chocolate is much sweeter.
  • You can garnish the hot chocolate with whipped cream, marshmallows, or sprinkle chopped dark chocolate.
