Milk Peda Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2-3 cups full-fat milk
- 60-80 grams sugar
- ΒΌ teaspoon Cardamom Powder
Instructions:
Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 30-40 minutes
Total Time: 1 hour
- Prepare Mawa (Khoya) & Add Sugar:
- Pour the full-fat milk into a heavy-bottomed pan.
- Place the pan on medium heat and bring the milk to a boil.
- Once it boils, reduce the heat to low and simmer the milk, stirring frequently to prevent it from sticking to the bottom.
- Continue cooking, scraping, and stirring until the milk slightly thickens. Add sugar and mix it.
- Reduce the milk until it turns to mawa. This process may take around 20-30 minutes.
- The mawa is ready when it becomes a thick, semi-solid consistency. It should easily form a soft ball when a small portion is rolled between your fingers.
- Cook the mixture on low heat, stirring continuously. Continue cooking until the mixture thickens again. It should reach a consistency where it starts leaving the sides of the pan.
- Once the mixture is thick and starts to leave the sides of the pan, turn off the heat.
- Add Cardamom:
- Allow the mixture to cool for a few minutes until it is comfortable to handle.
- Add cardamom powder and combine it with the mawa.
- Shape into Peda:
- Grease your hands with ghee to prevent sticking, then take a small portion of the mixture and roll it into a smooth, round ball. Flatten it slightly to form a disc-shaped peda.
- Serve and Enjoy:
- Repeat the process for the remaining mixture, shaping them all into pedas.
- Allow the pedas to cool completely before serving.
Tips:
- You can enhance the flavor by adding a few saffron strands to the mixture.
- Garnish with chopped nuts like almonds or pistachios for a decorative touch.
- Adjust the size according to your preference, and you may end up with more or fewer pedas accordingly.
You can approximately make 12-15 medium-sized pedas with the quantities mentioned in the recipe. Enjoy your homemade Milk Peda!
