Milk Peda Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2-3 cups full-fat milk
  • 60-80 grams sugar
  • ΒΌ teaspoon Cardamom Powder

Instructions:

Preparation Time: 5 minutes

Cooking Time: 30-40 minutes

Total Time: 1 hour

  1. Prepare Mawa (Khoya) & Add Sugar:
    • Pour the full-fat milk into a heavy-bottomed pan.
    • Place the pan on medium heat and bring the milk to a boil.
    • Once it boils, reduce the heat to low and simmer the milk, stirring frequently to prevent it from sticking to the bottom.
    • Continue cooking, scraping, and stirring until the milk slightly thickens. Add sugar and mix it.
    • Reduce the milk until it turns to mawa. This process may take around 20-30 minutes.
    • The mawa is ready when it becomes a thick, semi-solid consistency. It should easily form a soft ball when a small portion is rolled between your fingers.
    • Cook the mixture on low heat, stirring continuously. Continue cooking until the mixture thickens again. It should reach a consistency where it starts leaving the sides of the pan.
    • Once the mixture is thick and starts to leave the sides of the pan, turn off the heat.
  2. Add Cardamom:
    • Allow the mixture to cool for a few minutes until it is comfortable to handle.
    • Add cardamom powder and combine it with the mawa.
  3. Shape into Peda:
    • Grease your hands with ghee to prevent sticking, then take a small portion of the mixture and roll it into a smooth, round ball. Flatten it slightly to form a disc-shaped peda.
  4. Serve and Enjoy:
    • Repeat the process for the remaining mixture, shaping them all into pedas.
    • Allow the pedas to cool completely before serving.

Tips:

  • You can enhance the flavor by adding a few saffron strands to the mixture.
  • Garnish with chopped nuts like almonds or pistachios for a decorative touch.
  • Adjust the size according to your preference, and you may end up with more or fewer pedas accordingly.

You can approximately make 12-15 medium-sized pedas with the quantities mentioned in the recipe. Enjoy your homemade Milk Peda!
