Laapsi | Fada Laapsi Recipe | Gujarati Sweet Dish | Broken Wheat Dessert

A traditional Indian Gujarati sweet dish, laapsi is delightful, rich, and flavorful for any occasion.

Ingredients:

  • 1 small bowl of ghee
  • 1 cup Broken Wheat
  • Water is required to cook the broken wheat
  • Sugar
  • Nutmeg Powder
  • Cardamom / Elachi Powder
  • Dry Fruits 

Method:

  1. Keep the water to boiling. Add one small bowl of ghee and one cup of broken wheat/ daliya in another pan. Keep stirring until the daliya turns lighter in color. 
  2. Then add the hot water to cook the daliya. Mix it, close the lid, and let it cook well. Add more water until the daliya is soft and properly cooked if required.
  3. Add sugar and mix it well once it is cooked. Adjust the sweetness to your preference by adding more or less jaggery or sugar. Keep stirring in between. Later, add nutmeg powder, elachi powder, and dry fruits. Mix everything well.
  4. Cook it for 5 minutes and turn off the flames. Garnish the sweet with dry fruits of your choice, and it is ready to serve.
