Authentic Goan Fish Curry Recipe: A Flavorful Seafood Delight!

Ingredients:

  • 3-4 fresh Mackerel fish
  • 1 tsp of turmeric
  • Salt to taste
  • 7-8 dried red chilies
  • 2-3 tbsp of coriander seeds
  • 1 tbsp of cumin seeds
  • 3-4 cloves
  • 5-6 black peppercorns
  • 5-6 Triphala
  • 1 onion
  • 1 cup of grated coconut
  • 4 green chilies
  • 1 ½ inch piece of ginger
  • 6-7 garlic cloves
  • 6-7 Kokum rinds
  • 2 glasses of water

Method:

  1. Begin by cleaning the Mackerel fish, washing them thoroughly, and marinating them with salt and turmeric. Let them sit for 10 minutes.
  2. In a blender jar, combine the following ingredients: 7-8 dried red chilies, 2-3 tbsp of coriander seeds, 1 tbsp of cumin seeds, 3-4 cloves, 5-6 black peppercorns, 1 onion, 1 ½ inch pieces of ginger, 6-7 garlic cloves, salt to taste, 1 tsp turmeric, and 1 cup grated coconut. Make a fine paste in a mixer by adding a little water.
  3. Transfer the mixture to a curry pan and add 2 glasses of water to it. Simmer on low heat, then add 5-6 Triphala. Let it cook for 15 minutes while stirring continuously.
  4. Add the marinated Mackerel fish to the mixture.
  5. Next, add 6-7 Kokum rinds. Let it simmer for 5-7 minutes on medium heat until the fish is cooked.
  6. Your Goan-style fish curry is now ready. Serve it hot with steamed rice, and enjoy.
